About
TGCF fanwork exchange for the 2020 holiday season! Participants will be assigned recipients to create a personalized gift for without revealing their identities.
Runs from 26/10 - 31/12
How It Works
Sign-ups: You will be asked for your preferred medium (fic or art), as well as character/ship, AU, nsfw (when applicable), and dnw preferences. You will be asked the same set of questions for what you want to create and receive. Please provide at least two prompts to ensure we can pair you up with another creator.
Pairings: You will be assigned a recipient and a gifter based on the sign-up preferences.
Creation Period: You will have roughly 2 months from when sign-ups close to create a fanwork for your recipient.
Posting: During the posting period, all gifters will be revealed and fanworks will be posted on Twitter. Writers will also submit their works to a moderated AO3 collection.

Rules
1. Be Respectful. No discrimination of any kind (racist, sexist, homophobic, ableist, etc.) will be tolerated. This is meant to be a safe space for positive interactions between TGCF content creators. If you have anything negative to say about any other participant, or act discriminatory in any way, you will not be allowed to participate.
2. Be Aware of Other Cultures. While we are using the term “secret santa” to describe this holiday fanwork exchange, we understand that people come from all different cultures and may have different religious views. We ask that you be aware of this as well, and please don’t be disrespectful towards anyone else’s culture or religion.
3. No Character/Ship/Trope/Kink/etc Bashing or Shaming. This exchange does allow nsfw content (though you will have to be above 18) as well as content for any ship, character, and adaptation of the story. We understand that you may not like everything you see, but under no circumstances will we allow you to act rude or disrespectful towards another person for their preferences. If you do not wish to receive/create certain content, there will be an option for preferences in the sign up.
4. Do Not Reveal Yours or Other’s Gifters/Recipients! As the point of a secret santa is to keep identities hidden, we ask that you not share any information about who you are creating for/what you are creating until the gifters are revealed! If you do come to know another creator’s recipient, please keep that information to yourself as well.
5. Have Fun! At the end of the day, we just want to have a fun gift exchange between TGCF creators!

FAQ
Q: Does the story have to be a standalone, or can it be part of a series?
A: Only new, standalone fics are allowed. They can be the first part of an upcoming series.
Q: Can my works be uploaded in parts?
A: No, your work must be uploaded in one shot during the window of time we’ve given for posting the works.
Q: Can I get a beta?
A: Yes you can, but they will not be assigned by us or affiliated with the Secret Santa. You are welcome to ask around on our server for someone willing to beta or offer your services. We will not be organising beta assignments.
Q: What do I need to include in my signups?
A: Creating
You will need to provide what characters, pairings and/or AUs you would be willing to write for along with a list of things you are not willing to write for. For example you might be willing to write Bingqiu and Liushen, any AUs but will not write
Receiving
You will need to provide what characters, pairings and/or AUs you would like to receive a gift about, along with things you do not want. For example, you might want Moshang and Bingqiu, Modern AU and you do not want Major Character Death.
Q: What do I do if I need clarification for my assignment?
A: Please message a mod privately to ask what you need clarified and we will pass the mess on to the giftee, and return any message back to you. This ensures anonymity. Please do not contact your giftee yourself.
Q: I don’t like what I’ve been assigned, what do I do?
A: We will be pairing you based on preferences, so hopefully you will like what you received. However if the prompt doesn’t match please message a mod ASAP and we will try and match you with someone else.
Q: Is NSFW content allowed?
A: Yes, as long as your giftee has said they are happy to receive it and you have said you are happy to create it. Both participants must be over the age of 18
Guidelines
General Guidlines
‣ No plagiarism.
‣ You must complete at least one work for your recipient (see specific guidelines for more info about “complete”).
‣ All fanworks must be centered around TGCF (novel canon or other adaptations). Since this event is fandom-specific, no crossovers are allowed. Any other limitations on content will be based on your recipient’s requests and preferences.
‣ All participants must have a Twitter and/or AO3 account to post finished pieces.
‣ Please tag your work appropriately, especially if it contains triggers/sensitive content.
‣ We understand that we are getting a late start and want to make this as easy for everyone as possible. However, if you do need to drop out, please contact a mod asap so we can set up a pinch hitter.
‣ Please refer to our FAQ before asking any questions, and direct any other questions to our curiouscat.
Artist Guidelines
‣ Both traditional and digital work is accepted.
‣ Minimum submission content: 1 colored/shaded sketch. You are of course welcome to do more than that, as long as you can submit your work by the deadline.
Author Guidelines
‣ Minimum word count: 1000 words. There is no maximum, as long as you can submit your work by the deadline.
‣ Please write all fics in English.
Pinch-Hitter Guidelines
‣ You will be filling in for artists/authors who have dropped out and will therefore be expected to write/draw on short notice. (see artist/author guidelines for minimum submissions info)
‣ Pinch-hitters will be notified when a slot is needed to be filled. You are not required to submit content for the event, but we ask that you only claim a slot if you know you can create for it in time.
